In Memoriam
Dr. James P. Rametta Sr., 93 of Vandergrift, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in the Cedars of Monroeville Nursing Home.

Born March 9, 1915, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria Gallo Rametta and had lived in Vandergrift most of his life.

Dr. Rametta was the founder of Rametta Hearing Aid Center in Vandergrift, later to be named Rametta Audiology and Hearing Aid Center in 1958. He was affectionately known as Dr. Ear.

Additionally, he had worked as a sign painter, a TV repairman and for Kay’s Music in Vandergrift.

He was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church and the VFW, both in Vandergrift and the Leechburg Elks.

Survivors include three sons, James P. (Beverly) Rametta, of Vandergrift, Paul D. (Sandra) Rametta, of State College, and Robert (Leslie) Rametta of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Mary Lou (Robert) Powers, of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Rametta of Garden Grove, California, and Renaldo Rametta, of New Kensington; and a sister, Lucy Fasano, of Vandergrift.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kostiuk Rametta, in 2005; a sister, Anna Rametta; and four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Michael and Samuel Rametta.
